Top tier four star offensive line recruit set to choose between Georgia and other top programs this weekend

Real college football games are just around the corner. The video game is finally back. 2025 recruiting classes are starting to truly take shape. There's so much going on in the world of college football right now, but there are still several top tier recruits who have commitment announcements coming in the next few weeks that could change the future landscape of the game!

One of the most important upcoming commitment announcements will be from massive 6'3", 315-pound offensive line recruit, Cortez Smith. He's racked up over 20 FBS offers, but he's finally narrowed things down to just four programs. Smith will be making his choice this Saturday. What makes him so special and where will he actually commit? Let's dive in.

Cortez Smith, 4 Star Offensive Lineman

Cortez Smith is a versatile, massive human being, and a force to be dealt with up front on the offensive line. He's logged extensive work playing center, guard, and tackle, throwing around opposing defenders with ease for multiple years now.

Smith immediately debuted inside the Top 100 overall recruits about a year and a half ago after high profile scholarship offers started flowing in. Since then he has added weight, maintained quickness, and continued to show he can line up at any spot a college football offensive line may ask him to at the next level.

    Cortez Smith Likely Landing Spots

Where will he actually go to school?

Cortez Smith visited with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Miami Hurricanes, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this summer, then finished things up with a visit to the Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart. Ever since that visit to Athens many recruiting experts I've spoken to have been leaning towards Georgia for him.

Smith is from Georgia. He's logged almost a dozen different visits with the Bulldogs over the last couple of years. Plus, Georgia has had much greater on field success than any of the other programs who are still battling for his services.

So how can South Carolina, Georgia Tech, or Miami pull off the upset?

Throughout the process Smith has mentioned strong relationships with both Geep Wade and Lonnie Teasley, the offensive line coaches for Georgia Tech and South Carolina. He's also stressed how much relationships with coaches mean to him (like many top tier recruits). If one of those relationships proves to be surprisingly impactful, that might do it. Otherwise it will be tough for either to pull it off.

Miami has been a bit of a late riser in Smith's recruitment this spring, meeting with him in January and maintaining constant contact ahead of his official visit. They certainly have the NIL backing and immediate starting opportunity for a program on the rise to pitch his way. However, the Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart likely seal the deal on Saturday.
