Permit Issued For $9.4 Million Addition at Elementary School
A permit has been issued to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for construction of a $9.4 million addition at Greencastle Elementary School in Silver Spring (Fairland). Per the MCPS Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), projections indicated enrollment at Greencastle Elementary School would exceed capacity by the end of the six-year planning period. A feasibility study was conducted to determine the cost and scope of an addition project. An FY 2023 appropriation was approved to begin the architectural design for an addition project at this school. An FY2024 appropriation was approved for construction funds.

Marc Yamada was sworn in as the 18th Chief of Police for Montgomery County on Monday. County Circuit Court Clerk Karen Bushnell administered the oath in the presence of County Executive Marc Elrich and several department executive staff members.
