A 45-year-old Germantown man has died following a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in the 24800 of Old Hundred Road. Police Apprehend Driver, Find Handgun in Car
A Montgomery County Police officer observed a driver committing a traffic violation in Downtown Bethesda early Saturday morning. The driver of the car fled on foot but was apprehended. Police searched the vehicle and located a 9mm handgun.

Amtrak NEC Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project Under Way
PERRYVILLE, Md. - Work on Amtrak’s $2.7 billion Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project on the Northeast Corridor in Maryland has begun with pre-construction work that includes removal of remnant bridge piers from the Susquehanna River and utility upgrades in the town of Perryville, Md.. Maryland adds 5,600 jobs in June, unemployment rate creeps higher
BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland added 5,600 total jobs in June, including 3,900 in the private sector, according to monthly data released by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The growth rate last month (0.2 percent) was double the national rate (0.1 percent).
Kentlands Bar Crawl Raises More Than $1700 For Charity
The Kentlands Bar Crawl, an event that started over 20 years ago and has grown to include more than 150 people this year, has raised $1720 for Feed the Fridge. Kristin Johnston, one of the newer organizers of the event who joined original organizers Sue Kravitz and Debbie Freedman last year, tells us that this year’s event raise $860 that was matched by Feed the Fridge founder Mark and Amy Bucher for a total of $1720 raised.

Man who pushed woman out of moving car near Ballston sentenced
A Maryland man has been sentenced to 45 years behind bars after pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle near Ballston, causing severe injuries. Willie James Clements Jr., 61, was sentenced to 35 years for aggravated malicious wounding, as well as the maximum 10 years for hit-and-run, in Arlington County Circuit Court last week.
