FCPD identifies victims in fatal Lorton, Great Falls pedestrian crashes
Alcohol and drugs may have played roles in separate vehicle crashes that killed two pedestrians in Fairfax County this past Saturday (July 20), police say. Yesterday (Sunday), the Fairfax County Police Department identified Giomarie Davila-Ocasio, a 26-year-old Reston resident, as the woman who died after being hit by a driver in the Great Falls area of Route 7 (Leesburg Pike). The department also announced that a teen was arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Lorton.
2024 Know Your Opponent: Maryland Terrapins
Each Monday this summer, we’re taking a look at Northwestern football’s opponents for the upcoming 2024 season. This week, we’re focusing on the Maryland Terrapins, the ‘Cats’ week seven task. The Terps are coming off a streaky season in which they finished with an 8-5 overall record, and a 4-5 record in conference play in the now defunct Big Ten East. Northwestern will head to College Park on October 11, with the game currently scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. CT under the lights.
Capitol Heights Man Sentenced to 53 Months for $1.5 Million Pandemic Fraud and Firearm Offense
A Capitol Heights man has been handed a 53-month sentence for his involvement in a fraud scheme and illegal firearm possession. Stephawn Watson, 28, known as "O Dawg," received the sentence on July 18th after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a pandemic-related unemployment insurance fraud that swindled more than $1.5 million in Maryland and California. In addition to his prison term, U.S. District Judge Brendan A. Hurson ordered Watson to forfeit over $90,000 and to pay restitution of $2,094,319, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland.

Police search for man linked to multiple July burglaries in Northwest DC
WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. police are searching for a man allegedly connected to several burglary incidents that occurred during the month of July in Northwest, D.C. Officials said that the man they are looking for went into a store in the 2300 block of 18th Street, Northwest and stole some items on July 1.
