Local WWII veteran's Purple Heart returned to family 82 years after it was first awarded
The Illinois Treasurer’s Office has returned another missing Purple Heart. The latest medal has been returned to the family of Jerome Even of Park Ridge. He was awarded the Purple Heart in 1942 for his service during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Illinois governor finally signs key agreement to protect Great Lakes from invasive carp
Illinois has signed onto a key agreement that will unlock federal funds for a must-anticipated project to keep invasive carp out of the Great Lakes. Illinois Gov. J.B. Downs, IL – Stanley Miller Killed in Collision on IL 150 at East Rd
Downs, IL (July 2, 2024) – A man from Crystal Lake is being identified as the victim of a fatal crash Monday night. The McLean County Coroner says Stanley M. Miller, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene. The events leading up to the collision are still unknown, and officers did not say how many people were hospitalized as a result of the crash. The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday on Illinois Highway 150, west of McLean County and close to East Road in Downs. The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and Illinois State Police.

The Illinois State Board of Elections received a slew of ballot challenges July 1, including several presidential candidates and a local congressional candidate. Records from the state election board show a Springfield resident is behind the challenge to 27-year-old Chibu Asonye, running as a Green Party candidate in Illinois Congressional District 13.
