After 19 years of business, Dragon Wok Fine Chinese Restaurant has temporarily closed its Gilbert location at 727 W Ray Rd B1.

Earlier this week, the family-owned restaurant suffered an unimaginable tragedy when, on Tuesday, May 14, a car crashed into the business, and the driver took his own life. As a result, the company is forced to close indefinitely to repair the damages. There is no timeline for the reopening, but the family has launched a GoFundMe to help with the process. The company hopes to raise at least $35,000 to help fix damages and assist in lost wages for all employees.

“The man responsible took his life after crashing, leaving us unable to run our business for we don’t know how long,” according to the GoFundMe. “Now we have the daunting task of putting the business back together. We have been in business for 19 years, and this breaks my heart to see my family’s business like this. We need support from our community. We are trying to raise 35k, is what we estimate, will help us continue to pay our employees and for repairs as we get through this unfortunate time.”

Established in 2005, Dragon Wok Fine Chinese Restaurant has been a cornerstone of the Gilbert community, consistently raising the bar for exceptional Chinese fine dining. The Szeto family opened the business to showcase the most elegant part of Chinese cooking and catering. Since its opening, Dragon Wok Fine Chinese Restaurant has been featured on local TV stations and national radio broadcasts for its excellent customer service and fine cooking. Once Dragon Wok can reopen, the owners plan to offer the same exceptional service and food.

“Their culinary excellence has been recognized by local media, solidifying their reputation for both outstanding customer service and delectable cuisine,” according to the company’s website. “Dragon Wok caters to a wide range of palates, offering a diverse menu that encompasses traditional Chinese fare alongside innovative culinary creations. Customers come from all over the valley, including Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Phoenix, and surrounding areas, to enjoy our cuisine.”
