Mayor: Williamson faces audit backlog, hindering grant funding
The City of Williamson is behind on audits, officials learned during the city’s council meeting on July 11, which is delaying the city’s receipt of grant money. During the meeting, Interim Mayor Joseph Bucci expressed concern over the lack of progress in completing the audits, stating that the council had been led to believe that the audits were up-to-date.
City council holds first reading of public alcohol ordinance
At the latest Williamson City Council meeting, the first reading of the Private Outdoor Designated Area ordinance was conducted. This new regulation, enabled by the West Virginia Legislature through Senate Bill 534 in 2023, allows for the purchase and consumption of liquor, wine, beer, and craft beer in specially designated areas within the city.
