WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Trumbull County grand jury declined to indict a woman who was accused of killing her boyfriend in Girard.

Court records show Kristen Schmidt was “no billed” by the grand jury.

Schmidt’s case on an involuntary manslaughter charge was bound over to common pleas court.

Schmidt was charged following the January 4 shooting of Michael Cusick on Dearborn Street.
Cusick died two days later at the hospital.

According to a police report, Schmidt claimed she was a victim of domestic violence and told officers that she shot Cusick as he tried to come through her back door.
