PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Illini Bluffs sophomore Cora Ellison played like a veteran.

Ellison belted a solo homer and pitched a five-hit shut out to lead IB to a 3-0 win over Trico in the class 1A state softball semifinals at Louisville Slugger Complex on Friday. The Tigers will face Alwood in Saturday’s 11:30 a.m. state title game.

The Tigers also got RBI hits from Sara Finn and Lexi Brinkman in the fourth inning. Illini Bluffs is making its fifth straight trip to the state softball finals.

Ellison struck out six and didn’t walk a batter in earning the win. IB (26-1) has two state titles and two runner-up trophies in its previous four trips to the state finals.
