Spring Valley Man Arrested in Beacon for Fatal Hit-and-Run
Police in Beacon N.Y. have apprehended Manuel Roldan, 26, of Spring Valley, who was wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Rockland County. Roldan was found at the Beacon train station following a report of a suspicious individual looking into cars. Upon arrival, a Spanish-speaking officer questioned Roldan, who initially provided a false name.

Man Robs Town Of Lloyd Burger King After Coupon Is Rejected, Police Say
The incident occurred in Ulster County at the Burger King on Route 9W in Highland on Sunday, July 21, around 6:45 p.m. According to Lloyd Police Chief James Janso, the man entered the restaurant after an argument at the drive-thru window over a coupon or the cost of his meal, pushed the clerk to the floor, and stole their cell phone before breaking open the cash register and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Oklahoma Woman Pleads Guilty to Killing Kingston Woman in Drunk Driving Crash
An Oklahoma woman with previous drunk driving convictions will spend the next four-to-12 years in state prison after pleading guilty to killing a Kingston woman in a drunk driving crash last year in Newburgh. That’s according to News 12. 45 year-old Nicholle Hoke was sentenced yesterday in Goshen for the killing of 61-year-old Laura Chavez-Aralos in a head-on collision on Route 9W last June. Hoke was in Ulster County at the time to judge a dog competition. Prosecutors said she had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 at the time of the crash. She had crossed the double yellow line, striking Chavez-Aralos’ car, killing her and injuring several other passengers. Prosecutors said Hoke had two prior DWI convictions in Oklahoma four years ago.
Newburgh Man Nabbed With Loaded Gun Following Chase, Police Say
The incident occurred in Orange County on Wednesday, July 24, around 11 p.m. in the area of Third Street and City Terrace in the city of Newburgh. According to Newburgh Chief of Staff Mike Neppl, detectives from the department's Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force were patrolling the area, which has experienced a rash of narcotics complaints and shooting incidents.
Firefighters avert calamity in Lake Carmel
LAKE CARMEL- Firefighters arriving on the scene of a reported house fire in Lake Carmel Wednesday found smoke coming from the eaves of the wood frame dwelling. Lake Carmel FD Assistant Chief Rob Benson sounded a general alarm for his department while summoning mutual aid from the Carmel FD and within minutes the blaze at 18 Walden Road had been knocked down.

NEWBURGH – Several residents were displaced after a fire at 103 Liberty Street in Newburgh on Thursday night. The blaze at the four-story building was reported at 8:08 p.m. Fire crews identified a strong odor of smoke on the upper three floors, which led to the discovery of a small fire in a bedroom on the third floor. The fire was quickly put out using a single sprinkler, limiting the spread of the fire and smoke damage to the building.

Brooklyn man arrested on weapons charge
Nassau County Police arrested a Brooklyn man for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm during a traffic stop on Friday, July 19, at 9:11 pm in Woodbury. According to detectives, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) Officers while on routine patrol observed a gray 2011 Mercedes-Benz traveling northbound on Woodbury Road at a high rate of speed. Police say that a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun and a switchblade knife was recovered from inside the vehicle during the traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle, Emmanuel E.
