A Glenoma man accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated girl on June 8 is facing two felony charges in Lewis County Superior Court.

One of the charges is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and the other is a class C felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

The victim’s mother reported the sexual assault to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office on June 25, according to charging documents filed in Lewis County Superior Court.

The suspect, identified as Harlen Eugene Norman, 20, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 12:15 p.m. on June 26, according to jail records. The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges the next day.

The girl told investigators “she hadn’t reported this incident earlier as she was scared Harlen would act out, as it is not uncommon for him to yell and punch things if he is upset,” according to court documents.

When questioned by a deputy, Norman allegedly “became noticeably uncomfortable, often looking down at his phone” and said “he was being blamed for everything,” according to court documents.

Bail is set at $20,000. Arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3.
