    Watertown blanks Glens Falls for home PGCBL win

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Nathan VanDeVoorde went seven innings and gave up only two hits as the Watertown Rapids shut down the Glens Falls Dragons, 5-0, in a Tuesday night Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League matchup at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

    VanDeVoorde, who made his season-debut, with the team, went struck out three and only walked one for Watertown (10-15), which won consecutive games for the first time this season. Bryson Huwar tossed the final two innings to get the save and preserve the shutout for the Rapids.

    Brendan Wilson posted two hits and two RBIs while Tyler Jacobsen also collected a pair of hits for Watertown.

    Ryan Hart singled twice for Glens Falls (3-16-1), which was limited to three hits and committed three errors. J.J. Trudeau absorbed the loss for the Dragons, who have lost six straight games.

    Watertown goes on the road to play the Utica Blue Sox at 6:45 p.m. today in the first part of a home-and-home set. The two teams ring in the Fourth of July 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fairgrounds.
