AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — With the PGCBL playoffs beginning Tuesday, the Amsterdam Mohawks looked to be in peak postseason form Friday night, unleashing an offensive explosion on the Glens Falls Dragons.

In just five innings, Amsterdam amassed a season-high run total, taking down the Dragons 21-2.

After Glens Falls got out to a brief, 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Mohawks responded with three runs in the home half of the frame. They’d add six in the second, five in the third, four in the fourth and three in the fifth to trigger the mercy rule after just five-and-a-half innings.

Evan Haeger and Drake Digiorno had the biggest nights at the dish. Both tallied six runs batted in. Haeger posted three hits in four at-bats and scored three runs, while Digiorno recorded two hits in three plate appearances.

Fordham University commit James Redick, who just graduated from Shenendehowa, got his first start of the summer, and battled through two innings of work. He allowed two runs – one earned – while striking out two. Greenwich native Jesse Kuzmich and Brenden Kline each tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Redick, closing out the game.

Amsterdam (34-7) will play its final regular season game Saturday against Albany Baseball Club. The game will be held at Shuttleworth Park, but is technically a road game for the Mohawks.

Glens Falls (7-29-1) will wrap up its season this weekend with a pair of home tilts against Oneonta and Saugerties Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
