Only 57 days remain until the beginning of the 2024 season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers which pushes Huskers freshman defensive lineman Ashton Murphy into today’s spotlight. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end out of Elkhorn South High School was a consensus three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle while also being considered a top-10 in-state talent throughout the recruiting industry. Murphy committed and signed with the Huskers over offers from Air Force, Colorado, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Wyoming. In 2024, Murphy is destined for a redshirt season as he’ll need to continue to develop on and off the field including within the weight room. Long term, Murphy has the potential to become an integral part of the Huskers’ defensive end rotation and has a chance to develop into a high-end starter.
