A power outage struck UC Berkeley on Wednesday evening, leaving dozens of buildings on and near the campus without electricity. As of 10 p.m., 47 UC Berkeley buildings were still without power, according to a university announcement.

"High-voltage electricians are on-site and have identified the source of the outage," campus officials said in a statement. "It is estimated that it will take 6-8 hours to fully restore power."

Despite the significant impact on campus facilities, the cause of the outage has not been disclosed by the university. Interestingly, PG&E's outage map indicated that none of its customers in Berkeley were experiencing power outages as of around 10:30 p.m., suggesting the issue may be isolated to the university's own power infrastructure.

The outage has disrupted evening activities and operations across the campus. University officials are working diligently to resolve the situation and ensure that normalcy is restored as quickly as possible.
