As the warmth of spring gradually overtakes the slopes of California's majestic mountains, ski enthusiasts are bracing themselves for the end of the winter season, with only two major resorts set to remain open on Memorial Day.

    Both will close right after.

With snowfall dwindling and temperatures rising, ski resorts across the state have begun announcing their impending closures, marking the conclusion of what has been a memorable season for snow sports enthusiasts.

Among the dwindling number of resorts still welcoming skiers and snowboarders, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe stands out, reporting a modest 2 inches of fresh snow overnight, adding to an impressive season total of between 276 to 377 inches. Despite the recent snowfall, Mt. Rose is scheduled to bid farewell to the season on April 30.

Similarly, Diamond Peak Resort, nestled in the picturesque locale of Incline Village, has seen a recent dusting of over 2 feet of snow during the Easter weekend, contributing to a seasonal accumulation of 219 inches. Diamond Peak is slated to close its slopes on April 21.

While some resorts have already bid adieu to winter, others are gearing up for their final days of operation. Notable among them is Palisades Tahoe, formerly known as Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, which continues to welcome visitors with 2 inches of fresh snowfall reported in the last 24 hours. Boasting a season total of 383 inches, Palisades Tahoe is set to keep its lifts running until May 27.

Meanwhile, Mammoth Mountain, a perennial favorite among skiers and snowboarders, is also preparing for its final stretch, reporting 3 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours and a cumulative snowfall of 329 inches for the season. Mammoth is scheduled to close concurrently with Palisades Tahoe on May 27.
