The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory for the Bay Area until 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Temperatures in inland areas, including the Santa Clara Valley, eastern Santa Clara Hills, San Benito and Monterey counties, and the southern Salinas Valley, are expected to remain high, with readings in the mid to upper 80s and some areas reaching around 90 degrees.

Currently, temperatures are 10-15 degrees higher than this time yesterday, while coastal regions are experiencing milder temperatures in the mid-50s. The cooling trend is expected to start Thursday, with relief from the heat in interior regions and a return to normal or slightly below-normal temperatures by the end of the weekend.
