Southern Nevada will experience continued chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms through the weekend, particularly in areas near and east of a line from Yucca Valley to Mount Charleston to Rachel, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Las Vegas. This pattern is due to lingering monsoonal moisture and high pressure over the southwestern states.

Early Friday afternoon, thunderstorms began forming over the Spring Mountains, with towering cumulus clouds observed over the Sierra Nevada, the Nevada National Security Site, and northern Mohave County. Isolated to scattered storms are expected this afternoon and evening, particularly along and southeast of I-15. Lincoln County is also a concern, with thunderstorms potentially moving southward as the day progresses.

The highest chances for thunderstorms will be in Mohave County on Saturday and Sunday, with more isolated storms in Clark and San Bernardino counties. Temperatures will remain above normal, with only minor fluctuations expected through the weekend.

Next week, drier air is forecasted to move into the region, reducing the chances of thunderstorms and bringing slightly cooler temperatures. Residents should stay alert to changing weather conditions and the potential for localized thunderstorms.
