San Francisco’s Denny’s at 816 Mission Street has permanently closed its doors, leaving many loyal customers reflecting on the loss of a beloved diner. It was the only Denny's Diner location in the city.

The staff at this Denny’s location were known for their dedication, often handling challenging situations with grace. From dealing with unruly patrons to managing a steady stream of dine-and-dashers and the city’s homeless population, the employees faced daily trials that went far beyond typical restaurant duties. Despite the challenges, they consistently provided welcoming service, making the diner a haven for regulars.

While the diner saw sparse business during afternoons and evenings, it occasionally filled up during major conferences at nearby Moscone Center.
