Alaska Airlines to operate its first international flights from a California airport

Alaska Airlines is making a significant expansion into the global market at Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) with the introduction of seasonal non-stop flights to Guadalajara, Mexico. Beginning December 3, 2023, the airline will offer daily service between Fresno and Guadalajara (GDL), running through February 12, 2025. This new route marks Alaska Airlines as the first domestic carrier to offer international service from FAT, further enhancing the airport's growing reputation.

The 7:00 a.m. departure from Fresno will allow travelers to arrive in Guadalajara by early afternoon, offering a full day for business or leisure activities. This new service is perfectly timed for the winter holiday season, which is one of the busiest travel periods between the two cities. The additional capacity is expected to meet the high demand, especially as Fresno and Guadalajara share a strong connection, with 238,679 air trips recorded between the two cities last year.

"Alaska Airlines’ addition of seasonal service to Guadalajara is great news for Fresno, and more proof that Fresno Yosemite International Airport is one of the nation’s up-and-coming airports," said City of Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer. "I’m excited that Alaska Airlines will be the first domestic carrier to offer international service from FAT. With our terminal expansion in the works and new flights being added constantly, the future of our airport is bright."
