Northern California is set to experience cooler temperatures and mostly cloudy skies this week, according to the National Weather Service in Eureka. A weak trough moving into the region tonight and Monday will bring near to below-normal temperatures, especially in interior areas, along with a deepening marine layer along the coast.

Coastal areas can expect periods of night and morning fog and drizzle through Monday, with clouds taking longer to clear. Inland, isolated thunderstorms are possible in the mountains of far northeast Trinity County on Monday afternoon, though the chances are low, around 10-15%.

Smoke from the Boise Fire near Orleans continues to affect air quality in northern Humboldt and Del Norte counties, though conditions are expected to improve in northeastern Humboldt. However, air quality may worsen in northern Trinity County.

The cooler, dry weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with no significant precipitation likely. Coastal areas and locations south of Cape Mendocino may experience breezy conditions mid to late week.
