Southern California is set to experience a cooling trend through the weekend as a high-pressure system over the region weakens and moves eastward, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The cooling will be driven by an upper-level trough moving into the Pacific Northwest, bringing increased onshore flow.

As onshore winds strengthen, night and morning low clouds and fog are expected to become more prominent along the beaches, particularly along the Central Coast, where cooler ocean temperatures prevail. This could lead to dense fog in some coastal areas.

Gusty Sundowner winds are currently affecting southwestern Santa Barbara County, with a wind advisory in place. The NWS is monitoring conditions closely, as the winds may weaken and the advisory could be lifted earlier than expected.

The cooling trend is expected to continue through the weekend, with a slight warm-up anticipated in the early half of next week.
