Lack of water fountains at local parks leaves visitors thirsty and frustrated
The water fountains at Red Bud Park and Splash Pad are not working, and they simply don’t exist at Oscar Rose Park. Some park goers said they are frustrated and dehydrated. Eddie Robison and his grandson said they go to the Redbud Splashpad at least once a week, but if they forget a water bottle at home, their time will be cut short.

Update on Death of Young Giraffe at Abilene Zoo
SAN ANGELO, TX— In April, a two year old giraffe named Makena, died and now there has been an update on her death. In a Facebook post, the Abilene Zoo said: "Our lead veterinarian, Dr. Mike Nance, has provided a beautiful letter talking about Makena's life and explaining the results we received. Makena was very loved and cared for by our staff and community." Dr. Nance posted "A Heartfelt Goodbye" where he states he was there when Makena was born and watched her grow until her death.
