As students return to UC Berkeley for the fall semester, the Southside area will see a significant increase in traffic and limited parking. To ensure our streets stay clean and avoid hefty fines, tenants and landlords should plan ahead.

Move-in activities will bring over 8,700 students to residence halls and university apartments. To accommodate this influx, select Southside streets will experience lane and road closures from August 20 to August 25. Drivers should plan for delays and limited parking.

Residents are urged to use City services to manage the increase in waste. Illegal dumping can result in fines of up to $500 daily. Property owners should consider extra trash pickups or increased service to avoid overflowing bins and fines.

Students and families can park for free at UC Berkeley-owned garages with a printable permit. For detailed information on parking, traffic impacts, and waste disposal, visit the Cal Move-In website. By planning ahead, everyone can contribute to a smoother move-in experience and a cleaner Berkeley.
