The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), in coordination with the USDA and local agricultural commissioners, has officially lifted the Oriental fruit fly quarantine in the Redlands-area. This marks the successful eradication of the invasive species after nearly a year of effort.

This achievement is part of a broader campaign that saw the eradication of four invasive fruit fly species—Tau, Queensland, Mediterranean, and Oriental—across seven counties in California, including San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles.

Residents are advised to source plants responsibly, inspect gardens for invasive species, and avoid bringing agricultural products from other countries to help prevent future infestations.
