Southern California is set to experience a warming trend starting Sunday, with temperatures peaking on Tuesday, followed by the return of monsoonal moisture mid-week. According to the National Weather Service, dry and seasonal conditions are expected this weekend, with highs today slightly cooler by 3 to 5 degrees compared to yesterday.

The warming trend will bring temperatures 3 to 7, and locally up to 10 degrees above average by Tuesday, particularly in the Inland Empire and eastern valleys, where moderate to major HeatRisk is expected.

Monsoonal moisture is forecast to arrive by mid-week, bringing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms to the mountains on Tuesday, with the best chance for activity on Wednesday, extending into the deserts. This moisture will likely reduce temperatures but increase humidity, making conditions feel muggy. Low clouds and fog are expected each night and morning through early next week, with their presence possibly limited by the moisture.

Temperatures are expected to return to seasonal normals by Thursday as drier southwesterly flow returns, bringing a decrease in shower and thunderstorm chances.
