The National Weather Service in San Diego forecasts continued dry weather through Monday, with high temperatures rising slightly each day until Tuesday. Coastal and valley areas will see mostly sunny conditions by late morning today as low clouds clear.

A high-pressure system expanding westward from Texas will drive temperatures 3 to 7 degrees above average, with the potential for highs up to 10 degrees above normal by Tuesday. This will lead to moderate HeatRisk across Southern California, especially in the valleys and low deserts.

Beginning Tuesday, monsoonal moisture is expected to bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the mountains, with the likelihood of storms extending into the deserts by Wednesday. This day is projected to have the highest chance of significant thunderstorm activity.

As the week progresses, the marine layer’s coverage is expected to become patchier, and a cooling trend is anticipated starting Wednesday, continuing through the weekend. There is some uncertainty regarding the movement and impact of a low-pressure system from the Pacific Northwest, which could affect temperature and marine layer conditions later in the week.
