The U.S. National Weather Service in Sacramento reported cooler-than-normal temperatures across interior Northern California this afternoon. Sacramento recorded a high of 89°F, while Redding, Oroville, Vacaville, and Modesto all reached 88°F. Other cities, including Stockton, Tracy, Red Bluff, and Marysville, saw highs of 87°F, with Fairfield at Travis AFB reaching 86°F, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Sacramento.

In the Sierra Nevada, Blue Canyon observed a high of 70°F, and South Lake Tahoe reached 75°F. The milder temperatures provided a welcome break from the typically warmer August weather in the region, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Sacramento.
