The National Weather Service (NWS) in Los Angeles/Oxnard reports that Southern California will experience warmer temperatures today and tomorrow as high pressure expands into the region. This warming trend will be accompanied by minimal low clouds and fog, with gusty north winds developing over the Santa Ynez range through Wednesday.

Today, temperatures are expected to rise by 3 to 6 degrees, with highs reaching the 70s at the beaches, 80s and lower 90s inland, and isolated spots in the valleys hitting 100 to 105 degrees. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with similar conditions expected, and gusty winds likely in north-south oriented canyons and passes.

A cooling trend will begin on Wednesday as a large upper low moves southward from the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures will drop by 3 to 6 degrees, with increased onshore flow and more coastal low clouds expected. The cooler conditions will persist into the weekend, with highs on Friday only reaching the 70s and 80s, well below normal for this time of year.

As the weekend approaches, the forecast becomes less certain, but a slight warming trend is anticipated. There’s a possibility of a weak Santa Ana wind event on Sunday, which could bring additional warmth to the region.
