The National Weather Service in Eureka reports that the North Coast and surrounding inland areas can expect dry weather with slightly below-normal temperatures through midweek. Coastal regions will continue to experience typical night and morning low clouds, while interior areas will see breezy conditions, particularly in Mendocino and Lake counties.

A deep upper trough off the coast of Washington and Oregon will gradually weaken over the next 48 hours, allowing for a slight warming trend. However, temperatures will remain below normal. By Tuesday into Wednesday, the pressure gradient will tighten, leading to gusty afternoon breezes, particularly in interior Mendocino and Lake counties.

As the week progresses, an upper-level low is expected to deepen and move southward, bringing a chance of precipitation late Thursday into Friday. This system could also bring gusty winds and the potential for thunderstorms, especially in Mendocino and Lake counties, with a chance of wetting rainfall of over a tenth of an inch.

Residents in the affected areas should prepare for cooler temperatures, increased wind, and the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms later in the week.
