The Bay Area is set to experience a slight warming trend through Wednesday, but a rare August cold front is expected to bring significant changes to the region later in the week. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will warm into the upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast and upper 80s inland today, with sunny skies prevailing across most of the area.

However, this warming trend will be short-lived. A cold front moving in from the Pacific Northwest is expected to arrive on Thursday, bringing gusty winds, cooler temperatures, and a chance of rain. This unusual weather pattern for August could provide some relief from the typically warm and dry summer conditions.

Breezy onshore winds will continue this evening, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph in certain areas, particularly in the Salinas Valley and other gaps and passes. Low temperatures will remain moderate, ranging from the 50s to the low 60s in most lower elevations and slightly warmer in higher elevations.

Residents are advised to prepare for the upcoming change in weather, especially those in areas prone to wind impacts. The forecast suggests that the rain and cooler conditions will persist into Friday, offering a brief respite from the summer heat.
