Southern Nevada is bracing for a significant weather shift this week, with temperatures expected to peak well above normal today. Las Vegas is forecasted to reach close to 110°F, marking the hottest day of the week before temperatures gradually cool down by around 15 degrees by the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports that today will be the least windy day of the week, but gusty southwest winds are anticipated to develop on Thursday and Friday as a deep low pressure system moves across the western states. Additionally, a brief increase in monsoonal moisture and storm coverage is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, primarily affecting northwestern Arizona.

The forecast indicates a heightened fire danger due to the combination of high temperatures and gusty winds. The upcoming weather changes will bring a fall-like trough into the region, raising concerns about the impact of dry air and strong winds on fire risks across southern Nevada.
