The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted a shift in the Bay Area's weather, as warm conditions are expected to continue today before a rare August cold front brings cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and a chance of rain by Friday into Saturday.

This morning, low stratus clouds spread through the Petaluma Gap, across San Francisco, and into the East Bay, resulting in slightly cooler conditions compared to yesterday. Inland areas will see temperatures in the mid-80s to mid-90s, while coastal regions will experience highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Breezy onshore winds will pick up this afternoon, with gusts reaching 20-30 mph in certain areas, particularly in the East Bay's higher elevations, where winds may remain strong through the night.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for the upcoming weather changes, which could include rain—a rarity for August.
