A cooling trend is set to impact the Los Angeles area over the next several days, bringing relief from the recent heat. Today, temperatures will still be slightly above normal, but a significant drop is expected starting Thursday.

An unseasonably strong upper low moving toward the Pacific Northwest will reduce the influence of high pressure, leading to cooler conditions across Southern California. By Thursday, temperatures will be 3 to 10 degrees below normal, with even more pronounced cooling on Friday, where highs will drop 4 to 15 degrees below normal, particularly inland. Daytime highs will mostly be in the 70s and 80s through Saturday.

Morning clouds are expected to increase, possibly extending into some valley areas, with onshore winds also contributing to the cooler temperatures. Sundowner winds are predicted for the Santa Barbara coast, potentially reaching near advisory levels on Thursday night.

Warmer temperatures and clearer skies are forecasted to return starting Sunday.
