The National Weather Service in Phoenix is forecasting scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in eastern Arizona, as a result of an upper-level low-pressure system moving through the western United States this weekend.

This system will bring drier air into the region, reducing thunderstorm chances across much of Arizona, though higher terrain areas, particularly in Gila County, may still see some storm activity.

Temperatures will remain near to slightly above normal, with a slight cooling trend expected over the weekend. By early next week, a weak high-pressure system will bring temperatures back up, though excessive heat conditions are not anticipated, the NWS stated.
