Motorists traveling along State Route 28 (SR-28) in North Lake Tahoe should prepare for significant delays next week due to ongoing broadband installation work. Caltrans advises that the project, part of a statewide effort to bring high-speed internet to rural areas, will cause delays of up to an hour between Kings Beach and Tahoe City. Work is scheduled at various locations from Sunday, August 25, through Friday, August 30, with all construction paused on weekends and holidays.
