Las Vegas continues to experience excessive heat, hazy skies, and dry conditions as smoke from wildfires in Oregon and Idaho moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service. These conditions will persist through Friday, with temperatures expected to peak today. Gusty northeast winds, particularly in the Laughlin and Bullhead City areas, will add to the mix, with gusts up to 35 mph.

The weekend brings a change, with cooler temperatures and a slight chance of rain as monsoonal moisture returns to the area. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, particularly in central and eastern Nevada, as well as northwest Arizona. However, flash flooding risks remain low unless storms linger in one area.

Next week, drier conditions are expected to resume, but uncertainty remains as weather models show mixed forecasts for midweek. A strong trough could bring more substantial cooling and gusty winds, though forecasts remain uncertain. Temperatures are expected to hold near or slightly above normal into the beginning of next week.
