Sacramento and the Central Valley are bracing for one more day of scorching temperatures, with highs expected to reach 100-105 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the region, set to last until 8 PM tonight, as the hot and dry conditions pose a moderate to major heat risk. Low humidity will accompany the high temperatures, making it a challenging day for residents.

This extreme heat coincides with the two-year anniversary of Sacramento's hottest day, when temperatures soared to a record-breaking 116 degrees. In 2022, the city experienced several days of record highs, with Stockton tying its all-time record at 115 degrees during the same heatwave.

Although today’s temperatures will be intense, relief is on the horizon. Cooler weather is expected to move in over the weekend and into next week, as a weakening ridge allows for a gradual cooldown. While daytime highs will remain slightly above average, overnight lows are forecasted to drop, reducing the overall heat risk for the region. Despite some breezy late-afternoon winds, the National Weather Service predicts dry conditions will persist with no rain in sight for the Central Valley.
