Southern California remains under a heat advisory as dangerously hot temperatures persist into early next week. A strong high-pressure system hovering over the region has pushed temperatures 15 to 25 degrees above normal, with little overnight relief in mountain and foothill areas where lows remain warm. The National Weather Service warns that these extreme conditions will continue through Monday, particularly inland and away from the coast.

While Saturday brought slightly cooler temperatures—down by 2 to 10 degrees in some areas due to increased cloud cover—the heat remains intense. The San Gabriel Mountains could see afternoon convection, raising the risk of dry lightning and gusty winds. Cooling is expected by Tuesday as the high-pressure system weakens.

Residents are urged to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat, and seeking cooler environments.
