High pressure will dominate the Desert Southwest through this weekend, maintaining above-normal temperatures across the region. This pattern will keep daily highs between 105-112 degrees, with the highest temperatures in southwestern Arizona and southeastern California. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for these areas through Sunday.

Moisture availability will support isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, particularly in higher terrain areas like La Paz and northern Maricopa Counties, as well as Riverside County and around Joshua Tree National Park. Strong winds and localized flooding are possible with these storms.

A shift to drier conditions is expected by Monday as a low pressure system from the eastern Pacific moves in. This will lead to a cooling trend, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal norms by mid-week.
