Los Angeles, CA – Southern California continues to experience a dangerous heatwave, with temperatures soaring in many areas today and Monday, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported. The lower valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are expected to see some of the highest temperatures, ranging from 103 to 106 degrees today, as moderate offshore winds push heat into the region.

The NWS warns that the heat risk is elevated, particularly in the lower valleys where temperatures are running 3 to 6 degrees higher than Saturday. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and seek cooler environments during peak heat hours.

While the heat remains a primary concern, there is also a 30-50% chance of thunderstorms in the northern Los Angeles and Ventura Counties this afternoon. Areas such as the eastern San Gabriel Mountains and Antelope Valley foothills are expected to see the strongest potential for storms. Dry lightning, gusty winds up to 50 mph, and the possibility of fire starts are the main threats. Though the chance of minor flooding is low, thunderstorms may form over mountainous areas, leading to localized rainfall.
