Two people face murder charges after technological advances led to a breakthrough in a 1986 Golden Meadow cold case.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office charged Russell Lee and Judith “Judy” Weiser with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in relation to the 1986 death of 22-year-old Paula Boudreaux.

Boudreaux was last seen at her parents’ Golden Meadow home Aug. 3, 1986. She was reported missing by her family Aug. 6, 1986, to the Golden Meadow Police Department. Skeletal remains were found in Slidell. They remained unidentified until January 2023 through a combination of technological advances by the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Service , an anonymous tipster, and the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

According to Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives found statements and evidence that implicated Lee and Weiser in the murder, and they concluded the two killed Boudreaux, dismembered her body and dumped the remains in Slidell.

The detectives traveled to Missouri and Tennessee this week to assist with the arrest of both individuals. Lee was taken into custody in Missouri on July 9 with the help of the Mountain Grove Police Department. Weiser was taken into custody July 10 in Tennessee with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Both will be transported and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. Bail is set at $1.1 million each.
