Being from a baseball family, what other thing could Ryan Stafford possibly dream about other than being drafted and becoming a professional baseball player?. Part one of that dream came true Monday when Stafford, a 2021 graduate of Folsom High, was drafted in the fifth round by the Baltimore Orioles.

Chesapeake And Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund Provides $35.8 Million For Ecological Restoration Projects
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is awarding $35.8 million from the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund to 34 ecological restoration projects encompassing 122 sites throughout the state for Fiscal Year 2025. The projects were selected to improve water quality and habitat in the Chesapeake Bay watershed while building local resilience to climate impacts.

BALTIMORE - The brother of murdered Maryland mom Rachel Morin spoke Tuesday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.Morin, a mother of five, was found raped and murdered along Harford County's Ma & Pa Trail in August 2023.Her suspected killer, Victor Martinez Hernandez, who police say was in the country illegally, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was extradited to Maryland.The RNC on Tuesday focused on safety with a heavy emphasis on the Biden Administration and whether there's been enough security.Law enforcement says Martinez Hernandez left El Salvador in February 2023 after he was wanted for murder, six months before allegedly killing Morin."Rachel, a joyful, accomplished athlete and mother of five, was raped and murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant," said Michael Morin, Rachel Morin's brother. "My sister's death was preventable."

BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles had all five players get on the field for the American League in Tuesday's Major League All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas.Pitcher Corbin Burnes, shortstop Gunnar Henderson and catcher Adley Rutschman started the Midsummer Classic, while Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg were reserves.Burnes pitched a scoreless first inning despite walking a batter and allowing a base hit.Henderson, Rutschman and Westburg combined to go 0-for-5.Santander singled and scored in the fifth inning when Boston's Jarren Duran hit the game-deciding home run.The American League won, 5-3, and has defeated the National League 10 of the past 11 times.The Orioles (58-38), in first place in the American League East, open a three-game series at the Texas Rangers on Friday.
