Goldston Public Library announces free July programs and events
Goldston, NC – Goldston Public Library is excited to announce free programs and events during the month of July for the Chatham County community to enjoy. Goldston Public Library invites the Chatham community to the library for a pop-up Q & A session about gardening, lawns, landscapes, native plants, and house plants. The NC Cooperative Extension Master Gardener volunteers of Chatham County will be on hand to answer these questions. Volunteers can also help participants learn to access and use the online resources available at no cost from the NC Cooperative Extension.
Search underway for missing swimmer at Jordan Lake
A search is underway for a missing swimmer at Jordan Lake.The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday night that it was on the scene in the 600 block of Farrington Point Road.First responders are still working to determine what part of the lake the swimmer was at when they disappeared.Boats and divers were still working after 11 p.m. Tuesday night.No other details were immediately available. An ABC11 breaking news crew is on its way to the scene to gather more information.Check back for updates.Earlier this month, a 25-year-old Charlotte man drowned during a fishing outing at Jordan Lake. In May, a 16-year-old boy drowned at the lake while attending a birthday celebration. Deputies said the Winston-Salem teen died after he was seen swimming in a restricted area.

New guidance has been sent to North Carolina universities to help them navigate changes to diversity, equity and inclusion policies. Struggling Salt Life, Soffe parent could cut 224 NC jobs
The struggling apparel company behind the Salt Life beachwear and Soffe activewear brands plans to eliminate 224 jobs in North Carolina if efforts to sell itself fall through. In notices filed with the state Department of Commerce, Delta Apparel Inc. said it’s trying to sell the company. If it isn’t able to close a deal, it would cut 181 jobs in Cumberland County, 46 jobs in Robeson County and 22 jobs in Cabarrus County, the Duluth, Georgia-based company said.
