Monterey Police Arrest Leslie Flores After Extensive Manhunt
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 5:52 P.M., Monterey PD Detectives and Police Officers were conducting surveillance on Cielo Vista Drive. The purpose of the surveillance was to locate and apprehend Leslie Flores, 58, of Monterey. Flores had fourteen (14) active warrants, four (4) of which were for felony offenses with no bail. Detectives also had information that Flores was in possession of a firearm.

Cal State Monterey Bay senior research scientist AJ Purdy is among the authors of a new study that appears July 17 in the prestigious science journal Nature. Led by principal investigator Melissa Rhode, an ecohydrologist who formerly worked with the Nature Conservancy of California and now runs her own environmental consulting firm, Purdy is one of 22 other authors listed in the paper “Groundwater-dependent ecosystem map exposes global dryland protection needs.”

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Melany Acosta-Parra, of Kerman, has been appointed to the California Youth Empowerment Commission. Acosta-Parra has been a Recreation Leader for the City of Kerman Parks and Recreation Department since 2021. She served on the Kerman Youth Commission from 2021 to 2024. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Acosta-Parra is a Democrat.
