Residents of San Juan Bautista and Aromas areas are encouraged to participate on July 17th, 2024, from 5:30-8:00 pm at St. Francis Retreat in San Juan Bautista for a Community Meeting to hear about and contribute to the San Benito Wildfire Resilience Program. The program partners are facilitating the 10-year update of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for the residents of San Benito County, last updated in 2010. As wildfire frequency and severity continues to increase, it is more important than ever for our communities to have a plan in place to prepare for, reduce the risk of, and adapt to wildland fire events. SALINAS, Calif. — Libby, the cat that was rescued by the SPCA Monterey County after being shot in the leg on the Fourth of July, is now up for adoption. She was found with a pellet and shattered bone in her right leg, which was later amputated. She's remained in the care of the SPCA since then, with soft bedding and food and water.
