BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Denham Springs woman accused of being connected to a COVID-19 fund relief scheme was indicted by a federal grand jury. Myaika Gross, of Denham Springs, was a full-time employee of the United States Postal Service during the period of the scheme, according to federal court documents. She was indicted for wire fraud. United States Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr. announced that Jazmine Johnnie, age 23, of Abbeville, Louisiana, pleaded guilty before Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick to bank robbery. According to admissions made as part of her guilty plea, on October 9, 2023, Johnnie drove in a rented Dodge Challenger to the branch location of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., at 7346 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She wore sweatpants, a sweatshirt, a bonnet, eyeglasses, and a blue surgical style mask over her mouth. She spoke with a teller before saying she would leave the bank and return the next day. Johnnie left the bank in the rented Challenger and drove away.
