Louisiana State Police, FBI investigation leads to arrest of Gonzales man on child porn charges

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – A Gonzales man was arrested and charged after a recent investigation by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit.

Benton R. Bateman, 48, was charged with five counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles.

Louisiana State Police said they started their investigation into the possession of child pornography in March of this year. They said investigators went to a home that belonged to Bateman on Tuesday, July 16, and executed search and arrest warrants.

Bateman was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish prison.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to LSP.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with this investigation.
