Peoria police searching for suspects in McDonald’s heist
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria police are looking for a person held up a fast-food restaurant in north Peoria late Monday. According to Semone Roth, a department spokeswoman, the heist occurred at a McDonald’s located in the 7000 block of North University Street, which is less than a block from the intersection with Pioneer Parkway.

Illinois live-in caretaker sentenced for killing elderly woman over the volume of her TV
PEORIA, Ill. (TCN) -- A 46-year-old caretaker will spend six decades in prison for fatally beating an elderly woman during a dispute in 2019. According to the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office, a judge sentenced Dmitri Rogatchev on July 15 to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the first-degree murder of 75-year-old Sandra Jackson. A jury convicted Rogatchev of the charge in June. He must serve his full sentence.
Peoria, IL – McDonald’s Robbed by Masked Suspect
A Peoria McDonald’s on the 7700 block of N. University was robbed Monday night. According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:52 p.m. to a report of a robbery. The suspect, a masked male, allegedly entered the establishment, implied he had a handgun, and took an undisclosed amount of currency before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The incident is under investigation.

Peoria man charged after he left his dog inside 150-degree car
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 27-year-old Iowa man has been charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly left his dog inside a car under extreme heat. According to a press release from Anna Perales, a public information officer with the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office, Hunter Melsha, 27, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was charged with animal cruelty after keeping his dog in a car that was reportedly 150 degrees.
