South Carolina Competes At Transplant Games
The Transplant Games of America were held in Birmingham, Alabama from July 5-10. Team “Donate Life South Carolina” competed with over 50 participants, including Sally Harrison and Pat McColl from Dillon, who took part in the 5K Run/Walk event. The Games featured 20 different events, such as basketball, cycling, cornhole, golf, swimming, volleyball, badminton, bowling, poker, pickleball, trivia, youth Olympiad, ballroom dancing, singing, table tennis, track and field, darts, virtual triathlon, and tennis. Over 3,000 participants and more than 5,000 attendees gathered for the event, with teams from 40 different states and a few international teams competing over the six-day event. Team South Carolina brought home 58 medals (23 Gold, 21 Silver, and 14 Bronze), with participants ranging in age from 8 to 75 years old.

Affordable townhomes coming to West Ashley leaves residents with mixed feelings
WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCSC) - A new affordable townhome development is coming to the Ardmore-Sherwood Forest neighborhood in West Ashley. The City of Charleston approved ten new townhomes on 1555 Juniper Street. The lot will include five buildings with two townhomes attached in each for a total of ten homes. South Carolina awarded $175M for bridges
(The Center Square) — The federal government is sending $175 million in tax money to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for a bridge rehabilitation project. R2 Board pay increases with more meetings
COLUMBIA – Richland Two school board members say they aren’t enriching themselves at taxapayer expense by meeting more often. Until recently, district policy set trustee pay at $395 per person, per meeting, according to Chair Joe Trapp. The policy also caps the total number of meetings at 30, which is also a requirement of state law.
